In this review, we’re going to work through a website (FreePixels.com) as a case study, looking at its design and seeing what we can learn from it and what we could improve on.
So to start off, let’s take a look at Free Pixels. They offer almost 4000 extremely high quality images, for free. All you have to do is leave the small watermark in the corner, or create your own link back.
That makes it a very handy site for bloggers! Now load up the site in a new tab, and let’s start our case study!

As part of our feedback post, we promised to review one commenter’s site here on Pro Blog Design. Well, our winner was Liam J Moore, so we’ll be reviewing his site today.
A quick note to everyone who took part in the feedback post though, thank you for all of your suggestions! We’ve gone through every single one of them, more on that to come on Monday!
Now, to the review. Liam is a student completing his Masters project in Multidisciplinary Design this year. The blog currently serves a joint purpose; as a portfolio for his design work, but also as a progress log for the project.

Options pages are becoming a core part of WordPress themes, particularly in premium ones where the competitive edge it gives is an essential.
Back in June we looked over the state of theme options pages at the time and found a lot of good things were happening. They make working with themes much easier by removing the need to delve into any theme files or code.
Elegant Themes (Who we have reviewed before) are one of the top premium themes sites around and have just recreated their options page entirely.

Real Estate is a premium theme from DaThemes. It’s a plain design allowing the images to take focus and it packs in a fair amount of functionality.

iProduct is a premium WordPress theme from PremiumThemes.Net. It is aimed at site’s selling a digital product, though it does include a full blog design as well.

eBusiness is the latest theme release from Elegant Themes. We’re going to take a look at it, what it’s done well and what not so well, and what we can learn from it.
