It has also used the blue nicely on the heading. The navigation bar is also good. The thing that I notice there that it is not well spaced.

Michael, that’s what I wonder. Why does he keep making similar designs when he can make them all completely different? I mean he is doubtless a great designer, but he should experiment with new design approaches.

Even Blog Action Day reminded me of Freelanceswitch.com, and I instantly knew there was Collis at work again.

Having a unique visual style is very good,
but using the same style and layout twice is not.
Actually I like FlashDen alot, but why using the same layout for different sites (Freelance+PSDT)?
Just curious.

That’s true Mohsin, but I think it’s mostly because Collis has such a distinct style. The designs aren’t too similar to each other (Look at Flashden even). It’s just that his style is really unique.

milo, because they were designed by the same person. If you haven’t seen nortxeast.com and zenhabits.com they also look eerily similar to Freelanceswitch.

They all share one thing: they were designed by Collis.

Kristarella – I liked that logo as well. In fact, I thought it was a little more eye-catching than the actual blog’s one. xD

Ses – It’s definitely old-school. As a regular reader, I can see why you’d like to see a design that matches the quality of the content.

Rob – He does write a great blog!

Mohsin – Okay, you’re one. I’ll hunt out a great looking blog for next week (And possibly have an empty “What Could Be Changed?” section )

Kristarella – I don’t think it’s awful either. It’s not stunning, but it’s not terrible.

“generic” maybe, it could use some flare. “awful” would be flashing adverts, a bunch of crazy widgets and blinding colours.
