Very good tutorial indeed. You are absolutely right when you say that more colors does not mean a better designed website. Use / choice of colors should depend on many factors including but not limited to the age group of the target audience.

When designing my websites I tend to stick to 2 and at the very most 3 colours that I stick with as I don’t want it to look too much. When i say 2/3 colours what I that can mean sometimes is that I choose to take 3 shades of grey if that is what right for the brief. I really like to keep a site neat and tidy and that goes for the colour palette as well, something that works well together and compliments the industry it is meant for.

I’ve always enjoyed monochromatic and achromatic design, but I never really knew the terminology. I think it is a common design methodology that good designers use on a regular basis. It makes the website look clean, professional and have an overall appealing look.
