30 Beautiful and Clean Blog Designs

lead

When working on a new blog theme most designers like to look around at examples of well-designed blogs for inspiration that can be used in their own work. Sometimes the most impressive and inspiring designs are those that manage to achieve a great look with simplicity rather than excessive design elements.

In this post we will showcase 30 blog designs that have an effective, attractive design with a clean style. In many cases this style lends itself to proper emphasis on the content and excellent readability.

Which is your favorite? Or would you prefer a “designed” blog to a crisp and clear one?

I like a crisp clear blog design better. You focus more on what your reading. Not to mention it loads better and for me I tend to remember sites that are crisp and clear better..

    • David,
Yeah, those are some major benefits that make a clean or minimal design appealing. If the design looks great but it makes the content hard to read, it’s not doing much good.

  2. Clear is good, but too clear is worse again. I’d say the Squarespace Blog is my favourite from the list.

Now can you tell me one thing? I’m pretty fascinated by columns/magazine-like layouts, but, and here comes the personal question, what do you think, would it match my anime² if I modified my theme? (Lol, I’m pretty bored and it seems that I just can’t let my theme be for more than a few months!)

  3. I really like Objectified. I will be updating my blog in the next month or so to Thesis and I will clean it up a bit. I could hardly wait!

  4. Oh, sorry for the double post, but I just remembered I know a really well-designed blog that could go into the future ‘clean blog designs’ showcases. I myself was inspired by it. While the front page is perhaps not very much-saying, the single post views show really good whitespace and columns usage. That blog is Low On Hit Points. I hope this suggestion helps in some way! ^__^

  5. Good details, i like clean blog better.

  6. the character of clean blog is very moderate.

  7. One blog and dirty nouse designs are nice.

  8. Thanks for the mention! :)

Some of them quite obsolete, but some other are fresh to me.

  10. Michael, thanks for profiling our blog. I’m a new fan of yours!

  11. Beautiful and clean is a perfect description for these sites.

When sites are this minimalist, I think that you really have to know a lot about design, colours and page layout.

Difficult to pick a favourite but I did take a closer look at the “Laura Marchbanks” – stunning top graphic and text.

    I like http://lungualin.info – personal blog

  14. Clean Minimal design is alway the way to go. These are nice.

  15. Really good and clean selection! Keep up the good work ;)

  16. Beautiful examples of clean, minimal designs. Great collections, thanks!

  17. All of these blogs do have clean and beautiful designs. The white space is utilized well. No overcluttered photos or unreadable text. Hopefully someday all websites will be like that. :D

  18. Thanks for mentioning my blog!!!

  19. What is it about clean blog designs that we really like and feel so compelled to spend time with? I think it’s all about the power of simplicity. Easy readability, lesser distractions and a no-nonsense approach to design are some of the things that really appeal to us.

I often feel that some degree of restraint is always good. And when it comes to design, sometimes you can say a lot without speaking much.

  20. Not many very good. Want to find more pretty blogs.

Can you explain the definition of ‘clean’, until now I am still confused

  22. Thanks for the list! Thats what I was originally looking for, before you seduced me to buy that dont make me think book :P .

    cheers.
