30+ Best Handwriting & Torn Paper Designs

image

By its very nature, handwriting and paper are 2 things we just don’t associate with the internet. Our desks might be full of little scraps of paper with notes scrawled across them, but computers have a way of feeling much more organized.

That is part of what makes it so refreshing to see handwritten type and paper effects replicated online. The very best of these designs are still well organized, but they bring a little of that un-restricted, freeform nature of pen and paper to our screens.

In this post we’ve pulled together 31 of our favorites using these effects.

I LOVE that kind of style. Those kind of designs always stand out and are memorable for me. I wish I was talented enough to pull it off for my own sites. I’m stuck with plain jane boring-ness for now.

  2. This style is perfect for blogs. And thanks for the video. I’m certainly someone who can’t draw.

  3. I am not sure about the usability, but they are visually lovable

  4. I love the look of these designs. Somehow, it makes everything “seem” so much more personal, even in the midst of all this technology, a throwback back to the days when “blogs” were still “diaries” with little tiny locks and keys.

    Great collection!
I too have always been a fan of this type of graphic design.

As a design student @ COFA we were forced to write out a philosophy for ourselves as designers… it was a while ago since I had to use the “speil”, but it was basically outlining that where ever possible, when relevant (that’s important) that I would go back to “pen and paper” to create art for use in design – use handwriting, torn paper, ink splatters, rubbings for textures, and so on. I didn’t think that the 2 needed to be separated…. the examples above show this to be true.

My advice… experiment with a scanner today! If you can still find one lying around ;)

  11. I love this style of web design. The only problem is that people need fast internet for the pages to load quickly which isn’t too much of a problem as nearly everyone is on broadband but when I use my 3G internet card sites like these don’t load very quickly, and when having download limits they take up a lot of that. I am not complaining though as I am building a few myself in the style! Some of these are nice inspiration. Thanks

    The place is “http://www.christmas2you.com”

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did… got most of my shopping knocked out in one night this year.

  17. Impressing visual effects. The picture presenting a notebook with many sorts of papers, labels and booklets around is so pleasant to look at. I’d also like to mention that the design and the look and feel of this site are particularly attracting.

  18. Cool designs, are this designs are just get from wordpress themes or they are get from some web design company?
