   Logos are easy… once you see the finished article.
   Problem is, coming up with the idea in the first place.
   That moment of inspiration, that spark of creativity, that idea that leads to the final masterpiece.
   For most of us, we just have to be grateful for the brilliant ideas shown in posts like this one.

     Logos designed for nothing in particular shouldn’t be counted in ‘great logo design’ sites. It’s much easier to make a cool shape or icon and then decide what it could be used for. If these aren’t for really companies then they are just clip art – Not logos.

   Thanks for the compilation. I’m always looking for logo design inspiration. I agree with Keith Davis, coming up with the idea is always the most difficult part. In my case, it usually happens midway into brainstorming. Sometimes that “eureka!” moment totally changes all the old plans and renders all preliminary sketches useless [but you don't mind, of course].

   Awesome logos but some of them are following a trend (like web 2.0) which is current and might not sustain for a longer period. A logo must retain the same visual attention and message even when it is converted to pure black & white. I hope most of the designers agree here.

      I thought that was cool as well, I also like “Melt” because it’s so simple yet effective, and “BarCode” which you could as well spell Beer instead of Bar, so easily.

      Nice choice of typography and symbols, and a good source of inspiration (I’ve seen a couple of them before but not all of them).

    I really like Logotip and BarCode. Both are clever and look great in one color–very practical for printing. Half the battle with logo design is starting with a great name. For example, most designers rave about Apple and Target logos. But both are obvious pictographs resembling the company names. I still think it’s interesting how Target won Fortune Magazine’s logo showdown last year. Thanks for the great article!

      I do think many of them we’re created just for fun. Sometimes you ask yourself; who would ever come up with such a company name…? Like killed, more, barcode, etc… Allthough I didn’t check it I think they might be made just for fun. Doesn’t make them worse ;-)

    The Internet is actually a never-ending source of such awesome inspirations. These logos are indeed beautiful. I’ll definitely try out some of them. My favorites are cocoastuff, Loop, and masQuest.

    Some nice and very creative logo designs. This is a good post for anyone needing inspiration for logo designs. I know I always need inspiration as logo design isn’t a strong skill for me but with some good inspiration like these logos then it becomes a bit easier. Thanks for sharing.

      Absolutely agree with Kuram here. Great list of logos. It took us some time to get them right for photography business but once you do, you can see it. The feedback from customers, the look and the sales most of all. It was a great desicion for us to make a change.

     You can see a pattern with these designs. Many take on a 3D appearance without the usual bubbly effect we are all used to seeing in so called web2.0 designs. These designs are quite clever in achieving this effect without going overboard.

     Some of these logos are really beautiful and there are so many that I love in the collection that are in this post! I think getting a logo right is really important as it gives off that first impression to those visiting the website or looking at the business card so its vital it looks good. When designing websites I do find that a logo can sometimes let it down so if I was to get a logo like that to design a website around I would be really happy!

     Nice collection, thanks for sharing. You can really tell which ones have been carefully thought through and the ones that haven’t. No amount of bevels or gradients can mask a bad concept. Preferably design in mono until the latter stages, that way you can really hone in on the forms and spacing etc.
